Solutions Architect - Workday to join their team in a
hybrid contract role in downtown
Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will be a techno-functional consultant with a deep understanding of
Workday HCM solutions, specifically in the areas of
US Payroll and various other functional areas. This is a critical role that will support HR technology initiatives, focusing on
US Payroll year-end processes, enhancements, and defect management while providing functional and technical guidance throughout the entire project lifecycle.
As a
Workday Solutions Architect, you will work closely with HR business SMEs, developers, and other stakeholders to design and implement system solutions that address complex business requirements. You will ensure the successful configuration and integration of Workday solutions while advising on best practices, troubleshooting integration issues, and contributing to project delivery on time.
This role requires prior experience in
Workday implementations or support and the ability to balance technical expertise with strategic business consulting.
Key Responsibilities
- HR Technology Role: Serve as a lead HR technology consultant to support US Payroll processes, year-end tasks, and enhancements. Assist with system design and the troubleshooting of issues related to US Payroll, ensuring that all enhancements, defects, and processes are executed smoothly.
- Workday Configuration and Support: Provide functional and technical guidance throughout the lifecycle of initiatives, including design, security, testing, and implementation of Workday solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate options, recommend solutions, and ensure the system configuration meets organizational needs.
- EIB Creation and Integration: Lead the creation and loading of Enterprise Interface Builders (EIBs) to ensure smooth data exchanges between Workday and other systems. Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues effectively to maintain the seamless functioning of HR processes.
- Solution Consulting: Work with HR business SMEs to translate complex global business requirements into effective Workday solutions. You will play a critical role in driving design decisions, aligning system capabilities with business needs, and recommending automation and configuration possibilities.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Manage the testing and troubleshooting of Workday integrations, ensuring that all processes are functioning as expected. Lead defect resolution and participate in system testing phases to ensure quality and smooth implementation.
- System Design and Development Collaboration: Partner with system developers to define integration specifications and contribute to the technical design of HR solutions, ensuring that system configurations are aligned with global business processes.
- Project Management & Delivery: Utilize strong project management skills to prioritize deliverables, manage deadlines, and drive initiatives to successful completion. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed within scope, budget, and timeline while maintaining the highest level of quality.
Required Qualifications
- Workday HCM Solution Architect: Strong expertise in implementing or supporting US Payroll within Workday. In-depth knowledge of Workday’s core HCM modules is essential.
- Experience with US Payroll: Prior experience configuring, supporting, or managing US Payroll within Workday or other HR systems is a must. Understanding the complexities and regulatory requirements of US Payroll is crucial.
- EIBs Expertise: Proficient in creating, loading, and managing Enterprise Interface Builders (EIBs). Experience in integrating Workday with other enterprise systems is essential.
- Solution Consulting Skills: Strong consulting background with the ability to provide functional and technical guidance to clients. Ability to analyze and translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
- Communication and Project Management: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate across teams and organizations. Solid experience in managing and driving projects to completion, balancing multiple priorities, and meeting deadlines.
- HR Technology Knowledge: Deep understanding of HR technology, including systems integration, configuration, and automation. Ability to assess the capabilities of systems to optimize processes and improve efficiencies.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and work effectively under tight deadlines. Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
Nice To Have
- Experience with Other Workday Modules: Knowledge of other Workday functional areas, including Core Compensation, Advanced Compensation, Benefits, Time and Absence, and Global Payroll is highly beneficial.
- PeopleSoft Experience: Previous experience working with PeopleSoft, especially V9.2, is considered a plus and would complement your Workday expertise.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Provide end-to-end support for global Workday time and absence functionality, driving improvements, managing defects, and supporting enhancement projects.
- Offer guidance and consulting services throughout the lifecycle of each project, from design and configuration to security, testing, and final implementation.
- Evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the best course of action for each project, considering system limitations, impacts, and prioritization of tasks.
- Lead communication efforts between HR business SMEs and development teams to ensure that Workday system configurations are aligned with complex global business requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues related to Workday and ensure that all interfaces and system components work seamlessly.
- Drive project initiatives from conception through completion, maintaining focus on delivering quality, on-time, and within-scope solutions.
