Position Description
The Office of City Finance (OCF) OCF is responsible for the financial operations of the City of Seattle. While working closely with the City's Budget Office. OCF oversees the City's financial control functions and enterprise reporting responsibilities and supports the goals set by the Mayor and the City Council by providing financial information and expertise. The Office of City Finance champions race and social justice and works progressively to realize the City's vision of racial equity by participating in the Race and Social Justice Initiative - RSJI, which requires fostering a relational culture and an openness to learn and apply new ideas and skills through an equity lens.
The Business Systems Division supports all enterprise back-office systems of the day-to-day operation for a specific Citywide operation for Financial, Human Resources (Timekeeping and Payroll), and City Business and Occupation License and Tax collection. The OCF, the Business Systems Division is excited to announce two outstanding Workday positions: one focused on report writing and the other on configuration and testing. These roles are crucial for the ongoing maintenance and development of Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), Benefits, and Payroll.
As part of the Workday support team, the
Workday Reporting Analyst will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining reports, while the
Workday Configuration Analyst will handle the configuration and testing of the system. Both positions involve leading projects, troubleshooting issues, and providing guidance on best practices to ensure optimal use of Workday.
Job Responsibilities
User Support And Collaboration
- User Support: Understand requests, analyze requirements, and provide solutions to business problems.
- Collaboration: Demonstrate collaboration with users and stakeholders, ensuring proper task assignment and accountability.
Project and Technology Management
- Project Management: Lead projects and provide design recommendations to improve report or data accuracy.
- Technology Advancement: Research new Workday features and guide best practices.
- HR Technology: Drive HR technology implementations through planning, process design, configuration, and user acceptance testing.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience with Workday as an analyst, consultant and/or manager.
- Two (2) years of combined experience with Workday HCM in any of these modules (Compensation, Benefits, Time Tracking, Absence, Payroll and Security) experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
(Or a combination of education, training or experience that provides and equivalent background required to perform the work.)
You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:
Experience
- Hands-on HR business process experience (HR generalist, payroll administration, HRIS administration, etc.).
- More than 2 years of Workday experience is a plus.
- Experience in medium-to-large HCM implementation projects
Skills
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with data privacy principles and legislation.
Abilities
- Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and orally, to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.

Work Environment
This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule at the Seattle Municipal Tower, 700 5th Avenue, Seattle. Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.

PAY
This full-time position is classified as an Information Technology Professional B-BU, Classified Civil Service. The full salary range for this position is $45.44 - $68.20 per hour. After a pay equity and budget analysis, the salary range for this role has been identified as $50.61 - $68.20 per hour.
