Payroll Specialist to support our mission.
This role is based in the San Francisco or New York office and open to those who are able to be in-office 2 days per week on a hybrid work model.
About The Role
- Process payroll for over 400 employees, including US multi-state semi-monthly and international monthly payroll
- Manage time and attendance workflow to ensure all timesheets, time off requests, and other payroll data is received timely and is accurate
- Load various one-time payments, such as bonuses and wellness-related benefits
- Process and submit employee equity transactions and related tax withholding
- Handle day-today payroll activities and resolve payroll-related discrepancies, resolve employee payroll inquiries, and ensure timely corrections
- Assist with audits related to payroll
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all payroll remittances and reporting
- Ensure accurate payroll deductions, such as taxes, benefits, and garnishments
- Register new states and localities
- Assist in preparing payroll reports for management, accounting, and audit purposes
- Stay up-to-date with relevant payroll laws and regulations, including changes to tax rates and reporting requirements
- Provide timely response to inquiries from HR, Accounting, managers, employees, governments, and other third-party agencies utilizing knowledge and interpretation of policies, procedures, and legislation
About You
- Proven experience (2-5 years) as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, systems, and best practices
- Experience with year-end close and W-2 processing
- Familiarity with Workday Payroll preferred
- Experience with Fidelity, Forma, Larkin, and Carrot preferred
- Ability to prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, work cross-functionally, and follow through to execute all tasks
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and G-Suite
