SUMMARY:
The Workday Architect will sit on the IT Business Technology team, acting as the key technical lead
responsible for managing and optimizing the Workday platform. In this role, you will work closely with the
People Team as your primary stakeholder and partner, ensuring that Workday supports and enhances HR
processes across the organization. The Workday Architect will manage key HRIS initiatives, develop and
execute a strategic roadmap, and partner with both internal and external stakeholders to improve system
functionality, process design, and overall efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Workday System Ownership and Maintenance:
○ Serve as the in-house subject matter expert for Workday, ensuring the platform meets the
evolving needs of the People Team and organization.
○ Lead system maintenance, including upgrades, patches, and fixes, while troubleshooting
and resolving issues for end-users.
○ Design and build Workday Extend applications, partnering with business stakeholders to
create custom solutions.
○ Lead integrations with internal/external systems using Workday Studio, EIBs, Core
Connectors, and other technologies.
○ Maintain data integrity through regular monitoring and analysis.
○ Support the development of reports, dashboards, and queries to drive People Analytics.
● Production Support
○ Provide production support by researching and resolving Workday problems, unexpected
results, or process flaws.
○ Perform scheduled activities and recommend alternative methods to meet business
requirements.
○ Manage the semi-annual Workday release process, reviewing "What's New” updates,
stress testing the system, and coordinating change management efforts with the People
Team.
○ Serve as the point of contact for the People Team on any new processes or updates
related to Workday.
● HRIS (Workday) Strategy, Research & Improvements
○ Manage relationships with external Workday consultants and vendors, including Topbloc.
○ Oversee planning and budgeting for Workday-related projects in collaboration with
external partners.
○ Coordinate external support for break/fix tickets and annual programs such as Open
Enrollment, ensuring seamless integration and configuration.
○ Drive renewals, contract negotiations, and QBRs with external partners.
○ Manage vendor ticket systems, rotating priorities based on urgency.
● Internal SME for Workday Integration
○ Act as an advisor and informal liaison between the IT Business Technology team and
other teams such as People, Product, GTM, and Engineering, particularly in areas related
to Workday integration.
○ Provide strategic insights to internal teams on leveraging Workday capabilities to improve
workflows and processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● 5-8 years of overall progressive work experience in HRIS, with 3-5 years of experience
specifically with Workday.
● Hands-on experience with at least one (1) HCM system implementation or major upgrade.
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
● Demonstrated experience in generating and interpreting reports, utilizing Workday dashboards
and custom reporting tools, and collaborating with analytics teams to develop and maintain
internal dashboards for data-driven decision-making.
● Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
● Experience managing vendor relationships and partnering with external Workday consultants.
● Project Management experience and people management experience are a plus .
