Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need.
The Opportunity
This role is on a hybrid schedule and must be able to work from Ally’s Charlotte or Detroit locations an average of three days per week.
As the Sr Analyst, Business System Development-Workday, you will be responsible for the design, configuration, administration, and maintenance of the Workday Payroll and Benefits products. This position plays a vital role in supporting and optimizing our Workday Payroll and Benefits system. The Sr Analyst, Business System Development-Workday will collaborate with HR, IT, and third-party teams to ensure system functionality aligns with business needs and enhances our HR processes. This position is part of the Workday development team within the Human Resources’ Enabling Solutions organization. This position will report to the Manager, Business System Development-Workday.
The Work Itself
- Oversee and configure Payroll and Benefits modules within Workday, ensuring accurate and compliant administration of employee payroll and benefits plans.
- Analyze Payroll and Benefits business processes and recommend improvements leveraging Workday functionality.
- Collaborate with Tier 2 and Tier 3 support staff to resolve complex issues.
- Partner with HR teams to gather requirements for system enhancements and develop solutions.
- Lead or participate in testing and continuous improvement of Workday features, partnering with business leaders to optimize processes and enhance the employee, manager, and HR operations experience.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues, while coordinating with HR, IT, and/or third-party teams as needed.
- Develop and maintain documentation for system processes, configurations, and user guides.
- Maintain change controls documentation to align with governance and prioritization routines.
- Stay updated on Workday releases and new features.
Skills
The Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3 years experience in required
- 3+ years of experience in financial services or related industry preferred, preferably in a system configuration role.
- 2+ years of experience with configurating Workday. Some Payroll and/or Benefits required.
- 3+ years of experience with configurating Workday Absence and Time Tracking preferred.
- 1+ year of experience managing Workday Payroll and/or Benefits implementation, upgrade, or enhancement project preferred.
- Experience with case management systems, such as ServiceNow, including ability to triage and manage assigned cases within defined processes and service level agreements.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret requests and provide actionable insights.
- Experience with operating in alignment with an agile project management methodology, such as scrum, including experience managing sprints in Jira.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and assigned projects in an organized, thorough, and timely manner.
- Demonstrated diligence and relentless commitment to follow-through.
- Demonstrated ability to convey ideas and recommendations to a wide variety of audiences at all levels in a clear, compelling, and succinct way while applying strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills.
- Foundational knowledge of gathering business requirements, engaging in problem-solving conversations, and developing and testing potential solutions.
- Ability to apply systems-thinking to look across HR and understand the “big picture”.

Base Pay Range: $70000 - $120000 USD
An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.
Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
